100 of the hottest new artists announced for The Great Escape Festival 2018

The Great Escape, the festival for new music is bringing even more fire to Brighton & Hove on Thurs 17 – Sat 19 May, and today they’ve announced another 100 artists from across the globe. To their spotlight Dome show with Mist + Mostack they add Steel Banglez. He’s worked with everyone from Giggs, Ghetts, MIST and Wiley and now the East London super producer will bring his Midas touch to Brighton. Joining him is raw lyricist Fredo who’s proving he’s a force to be reckoned with.

This year rock will be coming to Brighton in the shape of Download Festival. “Having a stage at The Great Escape is a no brainer,” said Andy Copping, Live Nation’s President for UK Touring and festival booker for Download Festival. “In the past few years I’ve been bowled over by some of the rock, metal and punk bands across the world that I’ve seen at TGE and Marmozets, The Struts, The Temperance Movement, Creeper, Milk Teeth, Rolo Tomassi and Zeal & Ardor who have been part of The Great Escape will be playing Donnington Park this summer. To be able to curate their own stage is very exciting.” The Mother Ship, the home, the headquarters of rock, punk & metal will be curating a stellar line-up of head-banging artists.  They’re pitching for big things. Watch this space for the next AC/DC, Motörhead, Iron Maiden and Muse.

Also partnering with the festival is Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers, the new talent discovery and development arm of Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Music. “Future Bubblers is about identifying and developing some of the most exciting, left-field, genre blurring music from across the country,” said Peterson. “They’ve been working with these artists over the past 2 years and this opportunity to work with a festival as established as The Great Escape, to be in the mix of the rest of the UK industry, and to show the world what they’re made of, is so timely for these Bubblers. This will be an important spring board for all the future great things to come for them. “Funded by the Arts Council, it’s ethos to extend into new areas of activity and new areas geographically across England, focusing on emerging artists from the underfunded leftfield contemporary music sector. The organisation handpicks and actively seeks out these new musical talents, mentoring them over a period of years.

The Future Bubblers line-up includes; alternative singer-songwriter Kid Katharsis, singer Yazmin Lacey with her rich soulful voice, Neo soul-influenced Mali Hayes, jazz-based producer Broadstrokes, Brighton’s own Elsa Hewitt, singer and MC Skinny Pelembe and Sheffield’s warped R’n’B star Nashe xx.

Every year The Great Escape is joined by some of the very best partners to bring you the most dynamic and bold festival stages. They are delighted to welcome FADER, Notion, Loud & Quiet and Music Week who will all be hosting brand new stages at this year festival. And they welcome back BBC Music, VEVO, BoxPlus, DIY, NOISEY, GRM Daily, i-D, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young, London In Stereo, Amazing Radio and Dork. Rory Bett, MAMA Festivals CEO said “The Great Escape continues to partner with the most authoritative brands and tastemakers out there, ensuring a first-class international line-up of the most number of bands across all musical genres at a UK festival. The Great Escape’s authority and continual growth continues to set the agenda for the next big music acts across the globe.”
