Do you have a way with words? Bang Said The Gun are inviting aspiring poets to partake in poetry open mic slams throughout their tour.
They are inviting members of the audience to step up to the Golden Gun challenge, where they will have a unique opportunity to take the mic.
The poetry group come to Brighton Festival to play at The Spire. The event on 20th May will be headlined by Vanessa Kisuule and Sally Jenkinson.
It started as an antidote to dreary poetry nights when cofounders Dan Cockrill and Martin Galton started a spoken word club in a Soho pub. They now play to packed audiences on a weekly basis. They provide a mixture of new talent alongside some of the most established names in poetry, including Roger McGough CBE and Kate Tempest.
Since January 2016, the high energy night has continued to rise in glory. They have taken London by storm with their sell out residency at the Bloomsbury Theatre and successful performances at Udderbelly Festival and Leicester Square Theatre. The event was voted the best poetry night in the UK by the Times.
They will be performing in the city as part of Brighton Festival, an annual celebration of music, theatre, dance and the arts that runs from the 6th – 28th March.
Bang Said The Gun will tour theatres nationwide from 12th March to 28th July.
