One of the UK’s largest, truly independent festival is back this year with just as much excitement and eccentricity as ever before. Boomtown have just released the full headliners announcement for their 10th Chapter celebrations.
The festival offers a sheer scope of musical genres from reggae, to rock, soul and drum and bass, there is something for everyone and anyone, with the line-up always being unique to any other festival.
Joining the Gorillaz, who were announced earlier this year, in the 2018 UK exclusive headlining slot are South African trio Die Antwoord, ‘Rollin’ rap-rockers Limp Bizkit, three time Grammy winner Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals. Returning Godfather of reggae Jimmy Cliff, soulful vocals and African polyrhythms from Amadou & Mariam and downtempo trip hop from Morcheeba, have also been added and anti-austerity punk music from Sleaford Mods. Plus over 200 more acts across the stages, nine theatrical districts and forest parties on this initial release.
The Boomtown organisers have said:
“Those in attendance can expect to be taken on a journey of live and electronic music around the UK underground, via global stars and grassroots talent from over 50 countries across the world. Those of any age, young and a little less young, first timers or Boomtown stalwarts, there is something for everyone.”
Not only does Boomtown focus highly on the musical acts set to take the stage each Summer, but put equal importance on the stage designs and theatrical story lines within the ‘city’ of Boomtown and its 9 districts. Citizens are immersed in a spectrum of alternative realities from the dystopian nuclear power station of Sector 6, the bohemian circus of Oldtown and technological advancements of the Metropolis quarter.
This headliners release covers a mere selection of the acts that can be found on nine of Boomtown’s 27 main stages. Keep an eye on the newsletter and follow Twitter, Facebook & Instagram to keep up to date with the going-ons over the coming weeks.
All nine unique district line-ups, along with four mega stage line-ups will be released every Tuesday and Friday from the Tues 13th February, with an eye watering amount of acts still to be announced…
