After a highly successful first year run in 2016, (Brighton &) Hove Grown Festival returns this March to showcase brand new artists and performers from across the city. The performance art festival acts as a conduit for new writing exclusively from Brighton & Hove talent, all of which have been performed for the first time in the last two years. It provides affordable shows within the city, in some of the most fascinating hidden gem venues – from the Purple Playhouse and The Claremont, to Artista Studios and Sweet Dukebox Theatre.
The festival will showcase an array of performances to cater for every taste; lose yourself to theatre of bizarre avant-garde storytelling, with Mr D’s Tales of Myths and Legends, to crime drama with Cream. If comedy is your bag, find your Belongings with Anthony Ayton. Question your work ethic with Guy Wah in Professional A-Hole, or have your thoughts read with David Terrance in Fried Mind Show. Spoken word and poetry will be delivered with finesse by Linguistic Calligraphy, whilst family fun can be enjoyed with David Spillman’s retelling of Chaucer’s classic The Canterbury Tales.
The festival is the result of collaboration between Brighton based ZLS Theatre and Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe veterans Sweet Venues.
