British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) enjoys enviable connections. As such, they enable a truly unique and memorable experience for their students. Over the years, they’ve had a whole host of musicians visit the BIMM colleges for special Masterclasses. From icons to innovators, these legends have helped inspire the next generation of superstars.
BIMM Brighton students learned first-hand that you should believe the hype surrounding hip-hop icon and Public Enemy rapper, Chuck D. He visited the college in June 2014, along with Brother James of Public Enemy’s famed security team, the S1W. The pair hosted a very special Q&A Masterclass ahead of their sold-out show with The Prodigy at Concorde 2.
In March 2016, drummer and founding member of Pink Floyd, Nick Mason, joined BIMM London for an in-depth Masterclass. He chatted about the early days of this seminal British band, his amazing career and offered brilliant music industry advice to our students.
Artists don’t come much bigger than Queen guitar hero, Brian May. He popped into BIMM Brighton for a highly memorable Masterclass session in August 2015. He chatted to students about his genre-defining career with Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and, more recently, Adam Lambert, before visiting BIMM Bristol the following month…
BIMM Brighton students were thrilled to have Blur guitarist, Graham Coxon, visit them in May 2014. This exclusive Masterclass saw him discuss his solo work and the rivalry with Oasis, and even treated his audience to a few tunes on his guitar.
There was no-one better to host the new BIMM Birmingham’s first Masterclass session than local boy Tony Iommi – the lead guitarist and founding member of legendary heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Tony had a Q&A with an audience of very lucky students who started at the college in October.
In March, BIMM London students were treated to an incredible Masterclass at London’s Bush Hall, with Chic guitarist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Nile Rodgers. He was joined by the equally legendary drummer Ralph Rolle and bassist Jerry Barnes.
BIMM Dublin final year students were given a graduation ceremony they’ll never forget when they were joined on the day by U2 guitarist The Edge. He presented them with an inspirational speech, offering sage advice and wishing them the best of luck in their future music careers. So, if you’d like to rub shoulders with the world’s greatest musicians, while gaining a solid foundation for a career in the music industry, then BIMM is most definitely the place for you… Because these Masterclasses are nothing short of legendary!
