The BN1 Guide to St Patrick’s Day 2017

Are you ready to paint the town green? There are plenty of parties to choose from throughout the city come Fri 17 March. St Patrick’s Day is renowned for being one of the rowdiest nights on the calendar and this year won’t be any different.

Join the biggest shamrock celebrations in the city at the Fiddler’s Elbow, a weekend long party on Boyce’s Street. From the Friday onwards, the festivities will spill onto the streets, with live music, Irish dancing and face painters. If you need to refuel, the kitchen will be providing stews and BBQs.

If it’s an authentic Irish pub you’re after, head down to the Bugle Inn on St Martins Street. Not many people know it’s there but nestled within the residential area off Lewes Road is a pub once voted the third best place to enjoy a pint of Guinness in the UK!

Hungry? The Globe on Middle Street will be serving a traditional Irish roast dinner all day. No doubt the Sussex Student Union-run pub will continue the celebrations late into the night, hauling in large crowds with student prices.

For a guaranteed good time whatever type of celebration you fancy, The Freemasons Tavern on Western Road are going all out emerald, with a St Patrick’s Day-themed food and cocktail list, resident DJs and craic-ing giveaways.

Party until dawn at Molly Malones on West Street, the place to hit the dancefloor with live music, drinks deals and gallons of Guinness at the end of the rainbow.
