Sussex Pink Week runs from Mon 6 – Sun 12 March this year and has joined forces with local organisations such as Pop-up Brighton, Cult Milk, and Sofar Sounds in order to gain a wider audience and create awareness. Events will also be held at the Sussex University campus for students to fundraise, engage in conversation about Breast Cancer and learn how to check themselves for signs or symptoms.
Pop Up Brighton play host to Glitter Nips, a club night at the Tempest Inn on Fri 10 March. Involving workshops, 3D artwork and performances from various DJs until 3am, there will also be the chance to get your nips glittered up, have your portrait done in seaside-caricature style and even making your own Sussex Pink Week t-shirt. Tickets are on sale now at popupbrigton.com/future. All the ticket sales go towards breast cancer charities.
Sofar Sounds present a fully female line up at a secret location in Brighton. The venue will be revealed on the day to successful ticket holders on Tues 7 March. Apply for tickets online at www.sofarsounds.com/brighton. A portion of the ticket money will go towards breast cancer charities.
On Sun 12 March, Cult Milk will be organising an afternoon/evening of workshops at The Hope & Ruin. These will include drop in sessions from 6-9pm with artists showing you how to make pom-poms, kaleidoscopes, tote bags and screen printing. Of course, everything will be pink! A raffle and live music will also be taking place. This event will be free entry.
Pink Week will be a week of boobs, of pink, of creativity and fun whilst raising money for local and national charities. Sussex Pink Week organiser Rachel Winton says, “Although our age group is not the most commonly affected, we strongly believe that by informing our generation, we are securing future generations. We are so excited for the events of Sussex Pink Week 2017 to unfold and I hope that our collaborations with these lovely local Brightonian organisations creates a platform for this knowledge and awareness to be heard and shared.”
Sussex Pink Week comes to venues everywhere on Mon 6 – Sun 12 March, 2017
