80s Lockdownfest brings the UK’s biggest retro festival into your home

After a turbulent few months and with the postponements nearly completed for the entire Let’s Rock season of festivals, Let’s Rock have put together 80s LockdownFest, a special online event in aid of the charity Child Bereavement UK.

Happening on Sat 16 May – the scheduled date of Let’s Rock The Moor, which would have kicked off the 2020 Let’s Rock retro festival season – 80s LockdownFest will feature appearances by Tony Hadley, Wet Wet Wet, ABC, Howard Jones, Midge Ure, Jason Donovan, Toyah, Hue & Cry, Chesney Hawkes, Brother Beyond, Five Star, Then Jerico and many more. The evening will be hosted by Pat Sharp and Dave Benson Phillips and the fun kicks off at 7:00pm on YouTube and across all the Let’s Rock locations Facebook pages.

Let’s Rock organisers UK Live said: “We would really like to thank both our audience and the artists for their amazing support and loyalty, and we really can’t wait to come back bigger and better next year. However, we couldn’t just leave it until then!

“We all need a little pick-me-up so we thought why can’t we do a festival ‘off the field’ (taking into consideration self-distancing of course)? Okay, we’re not all together in a field with a drink in hand enjoying the atmosphere, but we can all live through it together on our screens, and hopefully we can also raise some much-needed funds for the incredible charity Child Bereavement UK.”

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals both when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, and when a child is facing bereavement.  CBUK is Let’s Rock’s official charity partner and UK Live have helped raise over £500,000 for them in the last few years – last year alone they raised £150,000. CBUK (like all other charities) face huge challenges moving forward to fundraise in the current climate due to Covid-19, and obviously UK Live will not be able to help raise funds at their events this year. In this current crisis their services are needed now more than ever before. Their absolute priority is to support the children, young people, families and professionals who need us now and who will need us in the challenging times ahead.

The 80s Lockdownfest online festival is completely free and can be viewed here  but if viewers would like to donate to Child Bereavement UK during or after the show UK Live would be eternally grateful.
