One of Europe’s most influential animal rights campaign and education group Animal Aid, will be VegfestUK’s supported charity at their event at the Brighton Centre on Sat 28 – Sun 29 Mar.
Founded in 1977, Animal Aid campaign peacefully against all forms of animal abuse and promote a cruelty-free lifestyle. They investigate and expose animal cruelty, and their undercover investigations and other evidence are often used by the media, bringing these issues to public attention. Animal Aid’s most prominent results include effecting changes to the racing industry whip rules in 2011 and convincing every single major UK supermarket to insist that their suppliers install independently monitored CCTV cameras in slaughterhouses. They’ve also stopped Cambridge University from building a massive primate testing facility, obtained the first ever footage of horses being killed in UK slaughterhouses and forcing John Lewis to disband its shooting club and end the rearing and shooting of pheasants on its estate.
“We’re really pleased to support such a top organisation as Animal Aid at our Brighton event,” VegfestUK’s organisers said. “We absolutely applaud their stance against animal cruelty, and their grassroots campaigns which have educated many local communities on the sources and consequences of food choices. Their influences on populations worldwide cannot be understated.”
At VegfestUK Brighton, Animal Aid will host a number of educational activities, including a talk by head of campaigns Kate Fowler, a cookery demo on how to prepare simple vegan meals in minutes and short films on various aspects of campaigning for animals.
There’ll also be a display area showing their excellent campaign work over the years, with collections at the venue contributing towards their excellent campaign work so please give generously!
VegfestUK comes to Brighton Centre on Sat 28 – Sun 29 Mar, 2015.
