If there’s a city bursting with Big Love it’s Brighton, and blessed it is to play home to a myriad of some of the UK’s most influential house DJ’s. One of those being producer DJ, remixer, Big Love record label owner and house heavyweight Mr. Seamus Haji.
His innate ability to make you want to ‘cut a rug’ is unmistakable in his popular Saturday night Big Love radio show on Brighton’s Juice 107.2 which is syndicated to over 30 stations around the world.
After a busy 2016 touring and having just finished his latest release ‘Best of Re-Loved’ Vol. 1, Seamus is going back to basics and finally bringing Big Love home this weekend with a launch night at The Green Door Store. Set to make waves this year hosting a selection of intimate Big Love club nights in Brighton, he will be showcasing his talent for incorporating past, present and future perspectives into his remixes, releases and sets.
One can only hope that these Big Love club nights will include a nod to his regular podcast ‘Re-Loved’, a labour of ‘Big Love’, it is bursting with clever reedits of dance music new and old where the grooves of 70’s disco and 80’s boogie have been lovingly extended with vocal chops and loops. A ‘Re-Loved’ night would fit faultlessly into Brighton’s club land calendar.
Seamus tells me that the Big Love philosophy is to embrace everything and deliver “songs” that make you feel good inside, making it the perfect fit for our city in both name and nature. Brighton after all is a city that embraces like no other and I’m looking forward to his offering of quality house nights popping up over the city in 2017.
Demonstrating the Big Love and respecting the importance of supporting emerging young talent Seamus has given the opening slot at his debut Big Love night to duo Workers aka Elijah Pailthorpe-Peart and Dan Kelleway, students at Northbrook College where he teaches music business.
Strictly promising ‘House Music All Night Long’. The punctilious producer, the dapperest of DJ’s, the respected remixer, the sublime selector Seamus will be hosting ‘Big Love’ on Saturday 25th February from 11pm – 4am at The Green Door Store. Entrance is free.
