Simon Green, aka hugely successful DJ and Producer Bonobo, makes his welcome return to the shores of East Sussex next month in support of his stunning sixth record ‘Migration’. Naturally off to an incredible start, ‘Migration’ has topped electronic charts all over the globe and exploded onto the number 5 spot in UK charts. Performing at Bexhill’s scenic De La Warr Pavilion, a charming setting beside the sea, the show is set to be an entirely luscious, intricate and ambitious experience.
‘Migration’ is a record that has truly cemented Bonobo’s place in electronic music royalty. The album brims with complex electronic textures, gentle romanticism and perhaps more ambition that any record of Green’s yet. Written mostly while out on the road, ‘Migration’ is a true showcase of just how much skill goes into the music. Involving the creation of brand new sequencing algorithms and the discovery of obscure sounds woven around each other – the many sonic layers include an elevator in Hong Kong airport, rainfall in Seattle and even a tumble dryer in Atlanta. On top of this, Green chose to layer in guests from the likes of Chet Faker, folk godfather Pete Seeger, and a little splash of classic RnB in the form of a Brandy vocal sample. Green describes the album’s main themes ranging around identity and ideas of home as “The study of people and spaces.”
Among Bonobo’s many famous fans are Disclosure, Diplo and Warpaint, and his large and loyal global fanbase only continues to grow. Following two sell out shows at the Sydney Opera house, another sold out show at Alexandra Palace and an incredible all-day festival at London’s Roundhouse, it’s clear you’d be mad to miss out on a show like this. Boasting over half a million album sales and over 150 million Spotify streams, it’s no secret that ‘Migration’ is set to do wonders for this quiet genius.
