Brighton Fringe is delighted to announce the first events of their new Autumn Season, running from Thurs 1 – Sat 31 Oct, with additional dates in September and November. Performances will be taking place both live and online, with a selection of comedy, theatre, music and more. There are expected to be new performances added over the coming days and weeks, with people still registering their events.

“Almost six months ago we were locked down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the world as we knew it was thrust into a seemingly unending period of uncertainty,” says CEO Julian Caddy. “Brighton Fringe was cancelled six weeks before it was due to begin and since then the arts landscape has been devastated, as has the economy.  However, as regulations have eased, we have seen a gradual return of live performance and I’m delighted to say that thanks to the incredible patience, hard work and sheer bloody-mindedness of everyone involved, the Brighton Fringe Autumn Season will be taking place with core dates in October.

“There will also be events in September and November too, so keep an eye out for what’s on.  Whilst we are pleased to welcome back live performance to our festival again, our priority remains the safety of everyone involved, so we have brought in a range of measures to ensure we can all #FringeSafely and have a great time too.

“It’s an organic process though and events are coming online gradually over the coming weeks, so have a look at our website, mobile app and social media.  Also, there will be a growing selection of work from all over the world available to view on the Brighton Fringe website.  It just remains for me to thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you very soon!”

So far events announced include The Spirit of Woodstock by local company Something Underground Theatre Co. taking place in St Ann’s Well Gardens, a weekly livestream from Peter Joannou, Brighton’s singing barber and stand-up comedy from comedians Ross Kamp, Dave Chawner and Troy Hawke at Laughing Horse at the Caroline of Brunswick.

Brighton Fringe want to ensure audiences feel safe to return to live events and have some key guidelines to allow people to #FringeSafely. These include asking audiences to wear face coverings in enclosed spaces, making all events ticketed to assist with NHS Track & Trace and discouraging audience participation to limit aerosol creation.
