Providing much-needed services in the city, Together Co are organising a charity gig this January. This people-powered Brighton & Hove charity is changing lives for the better, by helping individuals to find someone they can count on. In a city of nearly 300,000, Together Co believes no one should be socially isolated. So, with everybody’s support, they can continue trying to ensure no one feels lonely.
The gig platforms the cream of local music talent to The Latest Music Bar on Thurs 30 Jan 2020. Brighton-based quartet The Yellow Bellies (top) bring a fresh fusion of funk, blues, hip-hop and rock. Following the release of their self-titled debut EP last November, they continue to explore concepts of love and happiness.World News are an exciting three-piece band from Brighton, who offer a heavy and jangly sound. As well as releasing their debut single Wake Up on their own label, they’ve been proving themselves as a powerful live act. Mos Capri Experiment (right) bring a laid-back gamut of chilled-out sounds and hard-hitting lyrics. Completing the line-up local lad is Samuel J Lawrence, who brings powerful songwriting, a multi-facetted guitar sound and passionate raw vocals.
Across Brighton & Hove, 44,000 people live alone. 1 in 3 of these people are over 65, and face a 29% increased risk of death from social isolation. Together Co help 1,000 helped every year through their services, with 400 volunteers are working across the city to give 14,000 hours of support. The charity thinks the human connection is powerful, so they help through befriending, social prescribing and volunteering services in Brighton, Hove and beyond. Their ideas and expertise reach even more people through our consultancy work, further promoting a culture of continued and shared learning.
