After a difficult year for the arts as a whole, Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT) is delighted to announce a full programme for summer 2021, with a bit of something for everyone.

Theatre, comedy, music, dance, opera and more fill the schedule for Brighton’s premier outdoor venue in Dyke Road Park. The fantastic sarahmanncompany returns in May with The Lady In The Van, following last year’s smash-hit Abigail’s Party, and June’s Comedy Festival sees a host of stand-up comedy dates, packed with household names.

In July, there are extended runs of Shakespeare favourites A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet, whilst August brings plenty of family-friendly productions, including local regulars Brighton Little Theatre’s production of Roald Dahl’s The Twits. The season closes out in September, with Opera Anywhere’s Gilbert and Sullivan Festival and runs of Julius Caesar and Richard II. The full programme is available to browse on BOAT’s website.

As per government guidelines, the venue will continue to operate with a reduced capacity and social distancing in place until such a time when it is safe and responsible to start loosening restrictions. You can keep up to date with Covid-secure policy on their website and social media channels. As always, the priority is the safety and wellbeing of audience, artists, volunteers and staff.

Will Mytum, General Manager at BOAT said:

At BOAT we can’t wait to welcome audiences back through our gates, after what has been one of the hardest winters in memory. With full safety measures in place, we’re confident we can offer an oasis of entertainment for our audiences this summer, to put 2020 squarely in the rear-view mirror. With more top-class talent set to grace our stage than ever before, there’s something for all the family to enjoy at BOAT this summer.

BOAT’s 2021 summer season is on sale now. The season will begin on Wednesday 19th May and run through until Sunday 26th September.
