It’s Pride weekend and if you venture into the city centre of Brighton this weekend, be sure to check out the Brighton Unitarian Church as they illuminate the front of the building with a huge projection of the new Pride flag.
Running from this Friday through to midnight on Sunday you can see the work of projection artist Thomas Buckley as they display the new Pride flag inclusive of Trans and BAME people across the building.
The Unitarian Church as said “This is a nod to our fellow queer family in Brighton and even though we can’t party together at the moment the community is still there.
In the absence of official Brighton Pride due to the current pandemic, we wanted to shout from our rooftop our love for LGBTQ+ people in Brighton. Just because there’s no party this year doesn’t mean there isn’t any pride.
Our city as a whole is proud to have such a long queer history and so are we at Brighton Unitarian Church. We have been providing commitment ceremonies for same sex couples since the mid-90s and of course today we are pleased to provide same-sex weddings. Or as we call them weddings!
In celebration of this, we are projecting on the beautiful architecture of our 200-year-old building”
