Brighton Film Quartet’s Celebration of Women

International Women’s Day is bringing a whole host of events to our city. One of the most unique is a Celebration Of Women In Film event at Duke of Yorks on 8 Mar at 9pm.

SOUNDSCAPE will see Brighton Film Quartet play live at Brighton’s oldest arthouse cinema. The big screen will be showing beautiful imagery from top local filmmaking talent. This will be played alongside a specially composed cinematic soundtrack. The show was a hit at last year’s Fringe and has been performed at the Royal Pavillion.

This will include contributions from female composers, musicians and film makers. The Quartet is headed up by Penny Loosemore, who has composed the score and will play piano. She is joined by Emma Papper on clarinet, Sarah Davison on cello and Lisa De Simone plays the violin.

Filmmakers include Jordan Chandler, Alice Moyle, Fran Young and Hubble. Alongside Andy Deighton, Phil Harris, Nick Edwards, Philip Reeve, Justin Hankinson and Jerry Chater.

The show provides stunning big-screen visuals as a breathtaking backdrop to the quartet’s hauntingly beautiful music and multi-layered soundtrack. They describe it as ‘classical meets minimalism, with an unexpected twist’. So who knows what to expect during this night of celebration?
