C L O Ww N S head to Hope & Ruin

Combining clever wordplay with pounding sonics, Brighton’s C L O Ww N S play The Hope & Ruin Fri 10 Jan. Groucho Marx once said  “Clowns work as well as aspirin, but twice as fast” and all the world loves a clown right?  Especially when they teeter atop a post-punk Avant-pop tightrope of angular riffs, driving beats and lyrics which seem spewed forth from modernist authors of dissent.

Helmed by songwriting team Andrew Claridge (guitar) and Miles Heathfield (Vocal) with backing from Etienne Rodes (Bass), Damo Waters (Drums)  C L O Ww N S have conjured up a host of comparisons from early Adam and the Ants to John Cale to 80’s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, and invokes indie-avant-post-punk giants The Cardiacs and The Cravats.
