This Pride weekend the North Laine Pub will be hosting Destroy Rock & Roll. The Noughties disco is doing a special takeover in the form of two free pop-up Pride parties On the Friday night (7.30pm-12.30am), and again on Saturday daytime (11.00am-6.00pm), DJs Simon Price (Spellbound/Stay Beautiful) and Jayney BlamBlam (Total Blam Blam/1BTN FM) play indie-dance, electroclash, punk-funk & cool pop bangers from the 2000s. It’s right there on the Pride Parade route. And it’s absolutely FREE!
Destroy Rock & Roll, which happens bi-monthly at Komedia, is a celebration of the last time when music was really, truly brilliant: the Y2Ks. Retro has finally eaten itself, and it tastes amazing! Yes, this is nostalgia’s Final Frontier – the recent past. Destroy Rock & Roll revisits the first ten years of the Millennium: a lost world of dial-up internet, Napster, dressing in Day-Glo colours, vividly-personalised Myspace profiles, (not) giving a monkey’s who’s on the NME Cool List, being asked your A/S/L, Kanye shutter shades, WAP-enabled Nokia 3310s, and Jagerbombs.
Expect to hear: Goldfrapp, LCD Soundsystem, Peaches, CSS, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Robyn, Crystal Castles, Daft Punk, Soulwax, The Rapture, Ladyhawke, Scissor Sisters, Gossip, Chromeo, La Roux, M.I.A., Gwen Stefani, Franz Ferdinand, Santogold, N.E.R.D., Ladytron, Har Mar Superstar, Felix Da Housecat, Fischerspooner, Mylo, The Go! Team, Vitalic, The Knife, Tiga, Justice, Die Antwoord, Robots In Disguise, Sugababes, Little Boots, Chicks On Speed, Sam Sparro, Princess Superstar, Ting Tings, Miss Kittin, Le Tigre, Klaxons, Lady Gaga, Basement Jaxx, Annie, Lykke Li and more.
Destroy Rock & Roll Pride Pop-Up Party comes to North Laine Pub on Fri 3 – Sat 4 Aug, before heading to Brighton’s Komedia on Fri 7 Sept 2018.
