As part of their European Tour, the pioneering and visionary band Earth will be playing a show in Brighton at Komedia on Tues 24 Feb. For their fans it’s a chance to see the band in the flesh, and for newcomers an introduction to one of the most singular bands in all of rock.
Earth’s career, like their music, has always been a slow, deliberate progression. From their debut album, Earth 2, long considered a milestone of the drone genre, to their newest album Primitive and Deadly, Earth have always experimented with new musicians and sounds. This has allowed them to always remain consistently interesting and undoubtedly always unique.
As always guitarist Dylan Carson and long term cohort, drummer Adrienne Davis provide the core of the band, and they are accompanied by a large group of talented guest musicians. They are also supported, for the first time in nearly two decades, by guest vocalists. The result of this is that Primitive and Deadly is probably Earth’s most ‘pop’ record to date. That isn’t to say that their overall sound has changed, they are still thick, dense and overdrive, melodically rich and overwhelming.
They will be supported by the Black Spirituals and Don McGreevy & Rogier Smal Duo.
