As the weather gets colder, it’s perhaps time to give a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves. Charities and community groups can often struggle to keep up with demands during cold winter months, so donations are needed now more than ever to help those in need. FareShare Sussex are looking for volunteers for their food drive in Portslade on Thurs 21 – Sat 23 Nov.
The Tesco Food Collection is the UK’s biggest food drive and in 2018 the equivalent of 3.5 million meals was collected thanks to donations from the public. Tesco also tops up all customer donations by 20 per cent.
The passing customers are always friendly and donate a substantial amount of food, which is topped up by Tesco. Volunteers are need to work three-hour shifts, handing out ‘shopping lists’ of items to donate and providing information about FareShare and what they do.
Tesco stores across the country are participating, ensuring that all of the regional FareShare projects will benefit from people’s generosity.
The FareShare Food Drive runs on Thurs 21 – Sat 23 Nov 2019 at Portslade Tesco Metro, 19-20 Station Road BN41 1GB
