#festiv_alt offer Christmas market with a difference
Jubilee Square will be illuminated for an evening of light based art work and projection on Sat 28 Nov. The event will be a magical evening of projection mapping and light-up sculptors and interactive L.E.D balloons. Full of festive fun, the night will also see live performances form superb local bands and market stalls from young designers and makers.
FESTIV_ALT will be packed with market stalls selling unique and original Christmas gifts made by local 16-25 year old artists, makers, entrepreneurs and craftspeople, who have been offered the space for free as a platform for their businesses and talents. The event will also feature artwork from local artists including Cult Milk and a selection of Sculptors from Brighton University and Ithaca
The night will see dazzling 3D projection mapping from Ithaca Audio and decorations by CULT MILK, plus performances form Night House, Lion Bark, Sam Jordan & The Dead Boys, Ellie Ford, Ebony Grace and Elizabeth Wilson, and mulled wine and cider provided across the road at Ten Green Bottles. The local bands will run a count down at 7pm, before the night is lit up.
This free event is part of a bigger project happening across several cities this winter. It’s organised by somewhereto_, an organisation which helps young creatives find work space in thie community. Other events are happening in Birmingham, London, Nottingham and Wakefield, with each participating city is putting on an alternative Christmas festival for young creatives.
