Get the look: The Brown’s house in Paddington

The story of a Peruvian bear travelling to London in search of a home, Paddington bear charmed the hearts of the nation with his red hat and blue jacket. On his travels, the Paddington finds himself lost at Paddington Station where he met the Brown family, who offered him a loving and warm home.

As well as a heart-warming plot and a great rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the much-loved film has also got a set design to be revered! If you love the set as much as we do, here’s how you can get the Brown’s house look!

What makes the Brown’s house so special?

  1. The blossom tree stairwell

The first thing we noticed about the Browns house was the blossom tree stairwell. As Paddington first enters the house, he’s taken aback by the two-story mural of a blossoming cherry tree. Yet it isn’t just when he first enters the house that this mural appears, it’s an intrinsic part of the film.

If you’d like to recreate the look at home, you can reinvent the feel of the cherry tree with wall stickers and artwork to create a focal piece for your home.

If you’d like your home to be as pristine as the Browns’, then you might want to consider filling the dead space underneath your staircase with handy storage that moulds to the shape of your stairs.

  1. The vibrant kitchen

In the Brown’s kitchen, you’ll find a bright space filled with vivid colours. Keeping with the yellow and blue theme to match Paddington’s hat, the kitchen is a mix of pale blue and white cabinets, yellow countertops and orange accents – all finished off with a long dining table.

The Brown’s kitchen looks almost cluttered, but in a homely way. Almost akin to the ‘cluttercore’ trend, the Brown’s home celebrates mess.

To recreate the look at home, why not have all your trinkets on display? Paired with some cosy lighting and candles, you’ll have a homely kitchen that looks as if it could belong on a movie set.

Then, all that’s left to do is cook up some wholesome meals!

  1. The seaside bathroom

Being the mischievous bear that he is, Paddington tries to wash up in the bathroom and causes utter chaos. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the bathroom is enviable!

A colour scheme of yellow and blue paired with accents of the seaside give this bathroom a wonderful coastal feel. Featuring a white standalone sink, bath and toilet, this bathroom is the ultimate coastal-inspired bathroom.

One of the easiest ways to bring the shoreline to your bathroom is by opting for nautical colours. By painting your ceiling a dark navy, pairing the walls back with white paneling and adding some natural materials, you’ll soon be able to recreate the beachside vibe on a budget.

Final thoughts…

If you were infatuated with the charming house in Paddington, you’re not alone! Whether it was the stairwell mural, nautical-inspired bathroom or vibrant kitchen, the good news is that with a few simple tweaks, you can recreate the look at home.
