Hever Castle announce first British Sign Language interpreted Jousting Tournament
Hever Castle have announced their first British Sign Language interpreted Jousting Tournament!
On Saturday 21 August, a designated BSL area within the Jousting Field will be available with interpretation of the event for those with hearing impairments and their friends and families to enjoy.
The Jousting tournament sees the Knights of Royal England entertaining visitors with exhilarating displays of action, stunts, falls and fights in an authentic arena complete with a Royal Box with commentary provided by King Henry VIII. Battling it out in the saddle and on foot in one-to-one combat, the valiant knights will then compete for points to find this season’s ultimate champion. Choose which knight to support and then cheer them to glory.

“As guides, we have many years of experience when it comes to interpreting exciting history into BSL, including work at other major venues such as Hampton Court Palace. We therefore invite you to bring your picnic blankets, sit back, and let us take you into the world of the medieval joust. A visual delight for all the family. You will love it.”
BSL guides have also worked at venues including the Tower of London and Blenheim Palace.
