This weekend, one of Brighton’s most loved, yoga and well-being hubs throws open its doors to welcome one & all for its annual Christmas ‘Open Day’ weekend. About Balance is hosting a two-day bonanza, designed to give both new and existing customers the opportunity to test drive a range of therapeutic, invigorating and in some cases, even surprising therapies. Have you ever wondered what Cuddle therapy is? What about Acuenergetics? Do you want to experience Polarity therapy from someone who has also treated Elton John? Or perhaps you always meant to try yoga but never quite got around to it or would love to experience a floatation tank but it’s just too expensive, well now is your chance!
As well as all sorts of therapies on offer, (which need to be pre-booked), there is also 10% off everything in the shop, as well as a range of inspiring, specially priced gift boxes and treatment packages available throughout December to make your Christmas shopping easy as ‘mince’ pie. Live demonstrations with their range of vegan, organic Benecos make-up and Christmas nibbles and drinks at the ‘Big Fun Christmas Party’, start from 7pm on Sat 7 Dec with Brighton Kirtan providing live music and singing.
About Balance also play host to international therapist and artist, Augustine Tse who will be launching his new project 50 Creative Souls – an international collaboration of 50 artists creating a deck of fifty, individually designed wooden plaques, each one based around a different inspiring word or mantra. The 50 Creative Souls collection will be launched at 6pm on Saturday in the About Balance Studio, and will be displayed for the whole of December, with decks of cards featuring each design available to purchase. “It was important to me to find the right ‘home’ for this project,” says Augustine Tse. “And that is exactly what I felt when I wandered into About Balance one day, at home. I think many people feel like that there, the staff are lovely, the atmosphere is immediately calming and the community is supportive. The 50 Creative Souls project is something I have been wanting to do for a while now and I am thrilled to finally be launching it this weekend. It is an exhibit which has crossed cultures, artistic mediums and many, many air miles to reach Brighton but one I am extremely proud of and happy to invite everyone to see this Saturday at About Balance.”
About Balance is about supporting local community, wellbeing, fair trade and affordability for all, with owner Effie Love, who is a certified acupuncturist, masseuse and yoga teacher, realising one day five years ago that if she couldn’t afford her own therapies, a large percentage of the population also wouldn’t be able to and this didn’t sit well with her. “Health and wellbeing should be accessible to everyone,” says Effie Love. “Due to the excessive price, it wasn’t, so I decided to do something about it and About Balance was born, and luckily, has been growing in both following and offering ever since. It works by charging the therapists less rent and not taking any of their income, enabling them to offer lower prices to the customers, who in turn can then afford to buy a Karma Card subscription from us, which pays for me to run the business and gives customers substantial discounts. This weekend is another way to try to give back to the community that supports us, I invite you all to join us, come and have a browse, a therapy or a sing song and let kick start this festive season together.”
About Balance aims to balance your mind, body and budget, see for yourself and pop in this weekend. Scroll through the list of therapies available as taster sessions here and treat yourself for just £10 (advance booking only). Yoga classes are £1 and floatation sessions only half price at £27.50. Specially priced gift boxes and treatment packages available all month.
