Fresh off the back of his huge single September Song last month, JP Cooper is gearing up to bring his soulful acoustic melodies to The Haunt in Brighton on Mon 17 Oct, as part of his UK tour.
Hailed by fellow musician Stormzy as “one of the greatest musicians to ever come out of this country” and by Beats1 DJ Zane Lowe as “the future sound of Radio 1”, Manchester-born JP has spent the past couple of years carving his path, finally gaining a huge following across the UK over the summer after his collaboration with Jonas Blue on their platinum-selling hit Perfect Strangers dubbed him the most in-demand voice of the year.
Both effortless and distinctive, it’s no wonder JP’s voice has earned him such high acclaim across the industry, with BBC Radio One, 1XTRA, Shortlist and Clash magazine all backing the artist – along with one of the biggest names in the music scene – Ed Sheeran. In line with his trademark dulcet tones and feel good sound, his latest single September Song draws on the singer’s compelling voice and laid-back grooves, further validating his status as the sound of the moment.
Live, he’s even more of a treat. The urgent buzz around the artist prompted a year of festivals and headline slots, including Bestival, a support slot behind Stevie Wonder on the main stage at British Summer Time, and a sold-out show at London’s iconic KOKO, where he further consolidated his prowess. Having firmly established himself as arguably the foremost new British talent, there’s no surprise his forthcoming album is without doubt one of the most eagerly anticipated of the year.
