Kodo drummers bring the centuries-old art of Japanese drumming, combined with electrifying athleticism and stunning visuals, to Brighton Dome this Feb.

In Japanese the word “Kodo” conveys two meanings: “heartbeat” the primal source of all rhythm and, read in a different way, the word can mean “children of the drum.”

Since debuting at the Berlin Festival in 1981, these Kodo drummers have given over 3600 performances on all five continents. Ancient Japanese culture gets catapulted into the 21st century by this 26-strong troupe of musicians and dancers: lavish spectacle, intricate dance routines and numerous musical influences make this simply one of the most exciting shows you’ll ever come across.
