Little Fish sweeps at Brighton’s Best: Top 20 Restaurants awards

Little Fish Market confirmed itself as one of the premier restaurants in the country as it topped Brighton’s Best:Top 20 Restaurants list for the second year in a row, also picking up awards for Best Chef and Best Front of House.

Announced at a packed ceremony held in central Brighton, the awards saw new entries with the recently relocated Chard and local favourite Baby Bao both entering the list. The city’s more well-established restaurants also had a strong outing this year with the 21- year-old The Gingerman leaping from 20 to 8 on the list. The Ginger Fox, was the first ever winner of the Best Out of Town Destination award, and Cin Cin achieved its highest rating to date at number three, while seafood specialist Riddle and Finns made a welcome return to the list at 20.

Brighton awarded the flavours of Southeast Asia with Japanese (Bincho Yakitori, Goemon Ramen Bar and Kujira), Thai (recently opened Lucky Khao and the much-loved Hove stalwart Unithai) and Chinese (Baby Bao) all making an appearance in the top 30.

“To be voted number one by your peers and local foodies means so very much to us as a business and to me personally” said Duncan Ray, chef and owner of The Little Fish Market. “Brighton has an amazing scene and Brighton’s Best really truly understands and promotes that to a wide audience bringing people to our wonderful city.”

Chef Dave Miney, whose restaurant Bincho Yakitori has now been named the second-best restaurant in the city three years running said, “Since its conception, Brighton’s Best has been massive in raising the profile of Brighton’s eclectic restaurant scene. To us it’s much more than the awards, it has created a community amongst the restaurant and hospitality scene in Brighton and helped us integrate into it.”
