With more than 170k Instagram followers, Blake Auden is becoming recognised as one of the UK’s foremost social poets. Writing about his own life and struggles, he’s in turn inspiring a new generation of writers.
The turbulent last 12 months has prompted the Brighton & Hove resident to share his short, yet powerful, ‘micro poetry’ every day – seeing him become a powerful advocate for how journaling and poetry can support mental health.
Able to speak to issues around vulnerability and anxiety, his work is compelling, commanding and honest, offering solace at a time of isolation and uncertainty. It was in suffering from severe anxiety himself which saw Blake start journaling daily to check in with his emotions, evolving to writing poetry, which also allows self-reflection and actualisation.
Over the last year, people are increasingly realising the value of poetry as a self-help tool – which has in turn seen a significant rise in his audience.
