Celebrating its first birthday on Sat 7 May, Patterns has brought a new lease of life to Brighton’s nightclub scene. With a diverse programme of arts, music and cultural events to reflect our eccentric local community, this venue has been reborn into a vibrant multi-use space unlike any other in the city.

With everything from burlesque to bingo, ping pong to parents and kiddie’s parties, boozy hot dog brunches to art and craft fairs, Patterns has come a long way in just a year of being open. The highlight of which was winning the Design My Night award for ‘Best all in One Venue’ in January.

To celebrate and thank the people of Brighton for their love and support, the cult music and culture hotspot is throwing a free birthday knees-up on Sat 7 May, with a whirl-wind taster of Patterns events, LOTS of cake, and even some Patterns party bags. The party will also celebrate the launch of Patterns newly refurbished outdoor terrace, acting as a warm up to the launch of The Dog Haus Summer Sizzler Terrace Parties. These begin on Sat14 May and run weekly, from 2pm until late, throughout the summer.

Food will be provided by The Dog Haus at Patterns, who will be serving up their signature hot dogs and bottomless boozy brunches. You can join them on the terrace from midday to witness an epic burger vs hotdog cook-off between Brighton stalwarts The Dog Haus and Iceberger, each team will be demoing specially curated recipes, fighting to the finish…

From 4pm, you can get down and dirty with some birthday cake. Bring your clean hands and dirty minds for some Erotic Cake Decorating. It’s all about X-rated cupcakes and chocolatey balls, think Mary Berry after a large course of oysters! There’ll be balloon sculpturing from Miss Ballooniverse. If you ever wanted a fruit salad head dress made of balloons, the now’s your time.
Cult Milk will also be there offering a taste of Patterns’ Sunday Social Club’s monthly arts and crafts event with arty goodness galore. There’ll be fortune telling, adult toy racing, glitter wizards, badge making and loads more besides! Patterns collective of resident DJs will be providing the finest birthday soundtrack selections from 2pm.

As always on Saturdays, there is free entry until 10.30pm, after which the downstairs club session with DJs Jackmaster & Kórnel Kóvacs will get the party rocking.
