Brighton Film Studios

Screen and Film School Brighton’s brand-new studio facility is a mecca for young filmmakers. This 11,000 sq ft space is comprised of two large film sets, a Mac edit suite, green room, make-up and costume facilities as well as a production meeting room and two floors of storage for our industry standard kit. Situated just outside the city centre in Bevendean, Brighton Film Studios is one of the only film lots of its kind on the South Coast.

Two new degree courses for 2022 entry

Screen and Film School Brighton are diversifying their higher education course offering this year, with the addition of two brand-new, industry led courses – BA (Hons) Production Design for Screen & Film and BA (Hons) Hair and Make-up for Screen & Film – which will run alongside their current degree-level courses in Filmmaking and Film Business & Production.

Their flagship degree course, BA (Hons) Filmmaking, is recognised by ScreenSkills, the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen-based industries and carries the ScreenSkills Select quality-mark which indicates courses best suited to prepare students for a career in the screen industries.

MA Screen and Film Production

For graduates and industry professionals looking to take their filmmaking career to the next level, Screen and Film School Brighton offer a Masters degree, which enables postgraduates to continue their professional development within an area of specialism via mentorship from established film industry experts.

Opportunities exist to collaborate with practitioners from other arts disciplines to enhance and inform your practice, through partnerships with the BIMM Institute and the Institute for Contemporary Theatre, both of which are also located in the heart of Brighton.

Whether you want to write, direct, produce, shoot or edit you will be able to develop micro-projects, such as trailers and pitches to gain insight into your research project and its outcomes.

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Filmmaking

For school leavers looking for an entry point into a film industry career, Screen and Film School Brighton offer a 2-year, industry-led level-3 Diploma, which provides students with an opportunity to explore all stages of practical filmmaking, including production and post-production skills as well as film studies and project development.

Over the two years of practical and theoretical study, students will gain a fundamental understanding of the way the film and screen industry operates and will be guided by specialist tutors and prominent industry professionals to help steer them towards their future study or career goals.

College Principal at Screen and Film School Brighton Itziar Leighton has this to say as they prepare to enter the New Year:
