Arts production company Contemporary Connections launch their current project Sounding Food and Music with an evening of cutting edge and unusual music by women on Sat 6 Dec. This listening experience explores the connections between food, eating, gender and sound.

Using music as a medium to question ideas of dieting, relationships and the role of women in food production, the concert features a new commission from sound artist Amy Cunningham performed by the Centenary Ensemble, and works by Pia Gilbert, Helen Bowater, Daphne Oram and Nicola LeFanu.

The Sounding Food and Music project continues with a free public exhibition at Jubilee Library on Mon 19 – Sat 31 Jan, which features a musical dinner table where visitors can listen to and learn about the works of the women featured in the project.

The project is also collecting everyday experiences and stories relating to food and music. These stories will make up an online archive capturing a particular moment in history documenting thoughts relating.
