The launch weekend of The Coliseum is fast approaching, and Brighton’s newest music venue is bringing you an eclectic mix of house beats, breaks, dubstep, drum n bass and electro on Sat 27 Sept 2014.
Firing up the seafront venue’s custom Funktion-One sound system will be Flashmob, Dub Pistols and Benny Page, alongside Moody Disco DJs and the finest local talent. The Coliseum promises Drink offers, fire performers, the finest entertainment and a little of the unexpected!
Flashmob (Defected in the House)
Flashmob is one of the most acclaimed, instantly recognisable production groups in house music. Riding a tidal wave of success generated by the ravenous response to singles ‘Brick House’, ‘Ninety Five’ and – most significantly – ‘Need In Me’ (which has now passed 3 million views on YouTube), Flashmob have carved an indelible niche for themselves, crafting sublimely unpretentious house music, the widespread appeal of which has been near unprecedented.
Support comes from Moody Disco Dj’s, with the very best in underground house, techno and garage.
Dub Pistols (DJ Set) (Sunday Best Recordings)
The Dub Pistols coalesced in the mid-’90s and initially surfed the big beat wave along with acts like the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim. The Dubs toured with Neville Staple from The Specials at the start of 2014, and this led to the toaster guesting on ‘Real Gangster’ on the new ‘Pistoleros’ album.
Benny Page (High Culture and Digital Soundboy)
Heavily inspired by the bass lines of dub music, ragga jungle and Hip Hop a Benny Page production does not go unheard in today’s ever changing bass music culture.
Over the last decade Page’s music has seen airplay on major radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, 1xtra, Kiss FM, Choice FM and Rinse FM etc. He has also played a definitive role in shaping the sounds of the UK’s drum and bass movement. His name has become synonymous with tight production, heavyweight dance-floor tracks and clinical mixing skills.
Support comes from LayaDaBass b2b Dan Stoves (Strictly Productions), WHAT (DirtyLemon Recordings)
(Tech House, Breaks, Drum & Bass), Brown B b2b Rivalize (Serotone Recordings/Rough Tempo) and Orkastrator (Bass Inflation)
The Coliseum Official Launch Round 2 is on Sat 27 Sept 2014
