The Japanese House kicks off her UK tour on Mon 11 March at Brighton’s Concorde 2 . The Japanese House aka Amber Bain released her anticipated debut album Good at Falling at the beginning of this month and has already received rave reviews. With her electropop vibe and artistically layered vocals, 23yr old Bain was even rumoured to be a secret side project of Matty Healy’s due to her managing to keep a low-media profile until recently, but with this new release, it is time to be seen.
She has already made a huge impact on the music industry releasing four well received EP’s, co-produced by George Daniel (The 1975) and accompanying the 1975 on tour. Her latest album was recorded at Bon Iver’s cabin and was produced by BJ Burton (The Staves, James Blake, Bon Iver). The Japanese house already has people talking with her first single release from the album titled “Lilo” which she features her ex girlfriend in the video. Good at Falling is based on the journey of a relationship, from the butterflies of a new pairing, to the heartache induced by it ending, and all that occurs in-between. Bain captures a very raw and honest account with her imaginative vocals, and synth-pop and dreamy melodies. There is already a lot of hype around The Japanese House, it’s a performance not to be missed.
