Last Friday evening, Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar played host to new Brighton-based five piece ‘The Reincarnation of Trim Tab Jim’. This is a concept band whose gigs take the form of a story, accompanied by inventive and engaging visuals, in which the protagonist wakes up in Death’s waiting room – and sings for his reincarnation.

From the opening track ‘Awakening’ – a dark and dirty blues stomp culminating in the repeated refrain ‘Death is the waking from life’s dream’ – to rousing finale ‘Song for Casey Hardison’, an 8-minute plus epic lament for the recent incarceration of a Brighton-based hallucinogenic chemist – it is clear that Trim Tab Jim is on a mission, with a whole lot to say and a miasma of talent with which to say it.

Get up to speed with Trim Tab Jim’s story at, and get yourself along to their full-length gig at the Hotel Pelirocco on March 28th, to see these guys in a sumptuous intimate venue before they make their inevitable indelible mark on the nation’s consciousness.
