In a year already packed with genre-crossing releases including albums from Te’Amir, Hot 8 Brass Band, Wrongtom, Flowdan, Hidden Orchestra, Quantic, Pieces of a Man, Bryony Jarman-Pinto and Gawd Status, Brighton’s very own Tru Thoughts also get to celebrate their 20th birthday. To mark two solid decades of incredible music, they’re releasing a special compilation album and throwing a unique party.

 

 

 

 

 

This two-floor takeover of the city’s iconic Patterns club on Sat 2 Nov is hosted by label co-owner, A&R and Unfold Radio presenter Robert Luis (top), and features artists from every corner of the Tru Thoughts stable. This nine-hour session will feature live performances from Anchorsong, Bryony Jarman-Pinto, Gawd StatusHidden Orchestra Reorchestrations Set, Rhi and Rodney P, alongside fierce DJ sets from Robert Luis, J-Felix, Strategy, WheelUP (Danny Wheeler) and Wrongtom.

Also accompanying the birthday celebrations is a colossal compilation album.  Released on Fri 15 Nov, Shapes: Diamonds, has been compiled by Robert Luis and features some of Tru-Thoughts biggest hitters.The latest in the ‘Shapes’ series , it offers a fine selection of classic cuts, recent releases and inspired remixes. It’s available in a variety of formats, including tasty mint green and orange double vinyl versions

Tru Thoughts’ 20th Birthday party comes to Brighton’s Patterns club on Sat 2 Nov 2019. The album Shapes: Diamonds is released on Fri 15 Nov.
