Art-rockers Warpaint are returning from a year-long hiatus with their third studio album, Heads Up. There’s also a tour to coincide with the release, which includes a visit Brighton Dome Concert Hall on Wed 29 Mar,2017
The new set of tracks takes the bands’ influences, ranging from Dr Dre to David Bowie, and filters them through their experiences of performing live. It makes for some unforgettably kinetic and energetic music, which is even better witnessed in person.
‘I Feel really proud of what we made – almost surprised,’ says bassist Jenny Lee Linberg ‘When we were making it, I was like ‘I wonder what this is going to sound like? How’s this going to come together so nicely?’ I feel so proud of it, and like its an evolution of our band, It sounds like a mature version of Warpaint.’
Heads Up was recorded after the band spent 2015 apart working on solo projects. Reuniting in January this year, the band started to work with producer Jacob Bercovici, whom they had worked on their debut EP Exquisite Corpse – into the studio to begin work on the new LP.
