Virtual Wellbeing: Online Yoga Class 

In the blur of fairly unhealthy activities in Fresher’s week, this digital event guarantees to leave you feeling refreshed. A yoga mat is ideal but if you don’t have one your floor will suffice,

Sustainability Walking Tour 

Dream of a sustainable, environmentally aware existence? Wondering how you can fulfil it? Look no further. This walking tour of the city showcases Brighton’s best sustainable consumption locations, from pay-as-you-feel food spots to refill stations to zero plastic supermarkets. Your eco-conscious adventure concludes optionally at the Hope and Ruin pub which is home to Beelzebab – their 100% vegan menu.

Postgrad Lewes Ale Trail 

The cobbled streets of Lewes are boozily calling your name, postgraduates. You’re invited to the finest pubs to sample some of the magnificent beers they stock, with an additional introduction to the brewing process by local partners. Beginning at Falmer bar, your ticket grants you a free complimentary drink and travel to and from the historic town of Lewes.

Comedy: “Sounds Like” 

22 September, Digital Event 

20:00-21:00 

From the creators of award winning and critically acclaimed show ThisIsYourTrial, “Sounds Like” challenges participants to portray animals, things, people, songs and emotions using only noises from their mouths (not including words!) 

Hosted by Thom Tuck, celebrated actor and stand up comedian (appearing in Horrible Histories and the Penny Dreadfuls), the show forms friendships through humour and funny noises. 

There are two ways to take part- some volunteers are needed to be team players who make and guess the sounds, but if you just want to watch, you can.

Pier Party and Seafront Takeover 

23 September, Brighton Pier 

18:00-23:00 

Sussex takes over the Palace Pier for one night only. See the famed pier in a way no tourist can, with unlimited rides, free arcade style games and discounted treats. Afterwards, join freshers with free entry to the city’s biggest clubs.

Glenn Wilson Presents: How To Be A Lie Detector 

23 September, Digital Event 

19:00-21:00 

Psychology enthusiast or generally suspicious? Learn how to spot a lie in “How to Be A Lie Detector”. 

Dr Glenn Wilson, a renowned psychologist specialised in personality and sexual behaviour, shares his knowledge in this 60 minutes lecture on lie detecting by reading body language and speech patterns. 

The lecture is then followed by a 30 minute live Q&A.

Brighton Foodies Tour

Korean Cooking Workshop 

24 September, Digital Event

This 90 minute virtual culinary experience teaches you how to make an authentic Korean meal, with stories behind each dish and snippets from interviews with world renowned chefs. All classes offer a vegetarian option for you meat-free foodies and the ingredients list will be released the day prior.

Sussex Student Boundary Festival 

25 September, Stanmer Park

A must for any of you who love a boogie, Boundary Brighton is the biggest electronic music festival in Brighton, with an impressive lineup of house and bass music inside Stanmer Park.

Virtual Art & Wellbeing Workshop – Zine Making 

26 September, Digital Event 

11:00-12:00 

Art is a great creative outlet for self expression, this workshop teaches you how to use those creative skills you didn’t know you had to better your mental wellbeing. 

DeBuriart, aka Georgia, has helped many find their inner artist and includes you in that list with a guided workshop using simple materials. To create your own Zine (mini magazine) you need: an A3 sheet of paper, simple stationery, an hour and an open mind.

Gaming Tournament: 3v3 Rocket League 

26 September, Digital Event 

19:00-22:00 

Joining students from your university and across the UK, use rocket powered cars to score goals against your opponents on Rocket League- a game free on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. 

At 7pm, we’ll run through how to play, then help you find students from your university to play with- a perfect opportunity for you to make gamer buddies. For the event, there will be a Discord server where you can connect further with university students both near and far.

Pottery and Pints 

29 September, The Shakespeare’s Head 

19:30-20:30 

This event, limited to 10 places so secure your place fast, offers the chance to make your own pot and a free drink alongside it. The pot will be dried and put in a kiln and you have the choice to either pick up from the venue or have it posted for an additional fee.

F**K ME It’s Freshers 

4th October, Shoosh

A night of non stop music, neon face paint, drink deals and fun at Brighton’s seafront nightclub Shoosh, many tickets are sold out in advance so make sure to grab your final release tickets while you can!

The Cursed Pier + Halloween Block Party 

31 October, Brighton Palace Pier 

19:00-5:00 

From 7-11, the Cursed Pier offers unlimited rides, spooky surprises, harrowing creatures and dangerous drink deals. From 11-5, you’re taken from the pier to bar crawl the seafront, where there will be transformed venues and live scare actors.
