Workspace provider reveals plans for major development in the Brighton Lanes

Brighton’s purpose-driven coworking and business community, Projects is set to breathe new life into Nile Street as part of The Lanes regeneration project. The five-storey development will turn empty shop fronts into central Brighton’s largest, independent Grade A workspace, accommodating up to 800 members.

Artist’s impressions have today been released of the latest Projects venue which will open its doors in spring 2022. The £6.5 million renovation led by Ethos Property will bring the 1980s block up to the forefront of modern standards – vastly improving its sustainability rating, efficiency and power consumption through various means, from installing solar panels, to using smart building technology and finishing with sustainably sourced furniture.

Leading the way in healthy workspace design, Projects The Lanes is on track to be accredited as a WELL certified building – a global marker of building design focused on wellness, happiness and the productivity of its users. Purifying the air whilst keeping consumption low and comfort unimpacted will be a top priority and achieved through the use of state-of-the-art air filtration technology, special building materials such as photocatalytic paint and a supporting biophilic design.

The 29,000 sq. foot events and workspace will feature two floors of coworking, serviced offices for teams of two to 300, a bar and roof terrace, specialist collaboration rooms including a podcasting suite and a dome events space seating 100+ people in central Brighton.

Christos Demetriou, founder of Projects, said: “This city is full of creative entrepreneurs and professionals that believe in balancing purpose and profit, but they have lacked a collaborative home that leads with these values. Projects exists to holistically support the person behind the business, making it easier for the individual to make better choices and grow their business sustainably – come spring we’ll be able to unite and support more people than ever in a sustainable and inspirational environment, building on our existing community of purpose-driven people who believe in business as a force for good, whilst also reviving an unloved area of The Lanes.

“This venture comes at a time where the requirements of the workplace are shifting dramatically, businesses have embraced remote working meaning the office has to meet different needs to stay relevant. Offering flexibility, wellbeing support and an inspirational collaborative environment are fundamental workspace trends for 2022.”

Projects’s existing building on Ship Street is home to 250 members across 150 organisations including a host of charities, illustrators and animators, inclusive game developers and ethical make-up suppliers.

Flexible coworking memberships range from a set number of hours per month, to unlimited 24/7 access with prices starting at £100. Private, self-contained offices finished to an unmatched standard range in size for teams of two to 300.
