Zapper, the mobile payment and marketing platform, has announced the launch of ‘Zapper Waiter Day’. Held on the last Friday of every month, it will see all tips paid by customers through the app matched by Zapper itself.
At Zapper participating restaurants, diners can pay for their meals and leave when they want through a simple scan of a QR code on the bill. The Zapper app also includes the option to split the bill with friends, add a tip and rate their overall experience. Customers are encouraged to reward good service with the tipping emoticon on the app payment screen which, ingeniously, gets happier the higher you tip!
“Zapper Waiter Day gives us the opportunity to say thank you to the waiters, each of whom are an integral part of our solution,” says Gerry Hooper, CEO of Zapper UK. “While we support our restaurants and their front-of-house staff on a daily basis we felt it was important to hold a monthly waiter appreciation day and double Zapper tips.”
Zapper’s mobile technology has been designed not to interfere with restaurants front-of-house staff and customer interaction, particularly when ordering. The integration acts as an enhancement of the service, rather than a replacement. In September, there was a recorded 101% uplift in Zapper tips paid out compared to it’ launch in August. This solution fits in neatly at the end of the dining experience and gives more time back to the waiters, allowing them to focus on delivering excellent service. As a result, 70% of Zapper restaurant partners are experiencing average 10% uplift in tips. In general, the average Zapper tip amount at £4.50.
The Zapper app is available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone platforms, and can be used at hundreds of restaurants internationally.
‘Zapper Waiter Day’ starts on Fri 30 Oct, and continues on the last Friday of every month.
